Paramount+ Gives ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ the Green Light for Season Three

Taylor Sheridan’s (Tulsa King, Those Who Wish Me Dead) name has been buzzing around for weeks in regards of Yellowstone and his other projects, and the buzz doesn’t stop there. According to TVLine, Sheridan’s crime thriller Mayor of Kingstown has officially been renewed for its junior season on Paramount+.

Even after Jeremy Renner’s (Hawkeye, The Bourne Legacy) tragic accident involving a snowplow that caused him to suffer 30 broken bones and was scarily close to a fatal accident, Renner is still set to return to the show as his character Mike McLusky. Mike McLusky is, according to TVLine, “a former inmate whose family works as mediators between the street gangs, prisoners, guards and cops in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan.”

The series tackles the hard themes of inequality, corruption and systemic racism, among many other topics. The series attempts to bring justice and order to a town that could easily be classified as a Gotham in Michigan.

While Renner recovers, a release date for season three has yet to be announced. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are not helpful in determining an expected release date for season three. Renner’s co-stars are comprised of Emma Laird (The Crowded Room, The Brutalist), Hamish Allan-Headley (Unidentified Objects, Warriors of Virtue), Taylor Handley (Zerophilia, Hidden Palms), Hugh Dillon (Flashpoint, Durham County), Derek Webster (Ray Donovan, The Whispers), Tobi Bamtefa (Lost in London, Feel Good), Aidan Gillen (Queer as Folk, Kin) and Nishi Munshi (Home Invasion, Hollywood Fringe).

Sheridan is the creator of Mayor of Kingstown alongside Dillon and both serve as executive producers as well as Renner. Regina Corrado (The Strain, Deadwood), Michael Friedman (Tennis Anyone?, Jimmy and Judy) Dave Erickson (Fear the Walking Dead, Canterbury’s Law) Antoine Fuqua (Emancipation, The Guilty) Ron Burkle (Airplane Mode, Out of the Furnace) Bob Yari (Crash, Papa Hemingway in Cuba) and David C. Glasser (Hidden Obsession, Thirtysomething) also serve as executive producers.
