DC fans got to witness some of their fan-favorite characters from the Arrowverse back on stage to reminisce about the times on set and the heartfelt moment that came with it during 2027 New York Comic Con.
The panel was entirely actors from the hit CW show The Flash and consisted of Grant Gustin (Glee, Rescued by Ruby) as Barry Allen/The Flash, Carlos Valdes (Up Here, Vixen: The Movie) as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Danielle Panabaker (Stuck in the Suburbs, Read it and Weep) as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost) and John Wesley Shipp (Dawson’s Creek, Star Girl) as Henry Allen/Jay Garrick/The Flash. The cast joined together with fans to have a special Popverse Fans First conversation with no standard panel script.
The cast spoke about their time on set and how they all came together for the pilot of the series and didn’t know where it would be leading. Expressing how some parts of working on the show were difficult but still rewarding. One of the challenges was that unlike today, the series had many seasons that were more than 20 episodes long. Gustin mentioned how the crossover episodes with other series in the Arrowverse, such as Arrow and Supergirl were very interesting, as the writers on those series had to take the character of The Flash and adapt it in their own way. Panabaker spoke about her time as a director for the later seasons of the series and how originally she wasn’t liked in the writers’ room until they realized she was serious about the work and enjoyed writing her friends’ roles in the last few seasons.
The Flash follows Barry Allen, a Central City forensic scientist who gains superhuman speed after being struck by lightning during a S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion. Using his newfound abilities, he becomes the Scarlet Speedster, later to be known as The Flash. He uses his abilities to fight crime and stop metahumans who also have abilities but use them for crime and, worse, to harm others.
The Flash is available to stream on Netflix.
