NBC’s ‘Suits’ Spinoff ‘Suits: LA’ Casts Josh McDermitt

According to TVLine, NBC’s Suits spinoff has just cast The Walking Dead actor Josh McDermitt (Mad Men, Angie Tribeca). McDermitt will be acting alongside Stephen Amell (Arrow, The Flash) in the Suits L.A. pilot episode and taking on the role of Stuart Lane. The character is described as being “energetic, powerful, focused and self-absorbed,” per Deadline.

According to TVLine, the spinoff will follow a brand new character named Ted Black who will be played by Amell. The official synopsis for the series is as follows: “Ted’s firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”

The character of Ted is described as “a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others. Ted joined forces 15 years ago with his old buddy, Stuart Lane, to build an L.A. law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law.”

According to TVLine, Aaron Korch (Pearson, The Deep End), creator of Suits will executive produce alongside David Bartis (Fair Game, Edge of Tomorrow), Doug Liman (Swingers, The Recruit), Gene Klein (Impulse, I Am Rebel) and pilot director Victoria Mahoney (Night Sky, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker).

Suits is a legal drama that follows corporate lawyer Harvey Specter and his team. The series ran for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019 and witnessed old and new rivalries surface among members of the team as they learned to deal with their new members. 

Currently, the rest of the cast for the series has yet to be announced.
