‘Loki’ Season Two Adds Cast Member, Reveals Exclusive Footage

There have been several exciting updates from Disney’s D23 expo, highlighting Disney’s vast array of content throughout its streaming platform and across its various franchises. The creative team behind Disney+’s Loki shared exciting news about the villain’s journey in the show’s second season.

Fans at the D23 Marvel Panel saw exclusive footage of season two, including a clip of the titular character being ripped through time and saying, “I’ve seen terrible, awful things,” according to Popverse. Erik Voss from New Rockstars described, via his Twitter, a shot “where Loki chisels away a mural of the Time Keepers to reveal a wall of giant golden Kang variant faces.”

In addition to the exclusive clip, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once) has joined the MCU and has been cast in the second season of Loki in a vital role, per Marvel. This news comes months after Tom Hiddleston (The Essex Serpent), who plays Loki, confirmed in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that the “whole cast” will return for the show’s second season.

The series cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The Morning Show) as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country) as Hunter B-15, Eugene Cordero (The Good Place) as Casey, Academy Award nominee Owen Wilson (Documentary Now!) as Mobius, and Sophia Di Martino (Yesterday) as Sylvie, among others. At this year’s Emmy Awards, the series was nominated for six trophies in technical categories, losing all of them to various series, including What We Do in the ShadowsStranger ThingsThe White LotusEuphoriaThe Gilded Age, and Severance.

When asked whether Loki could expand beyond a two-season arc, Emmy-winning producer and creator of the series, Michael Waldron (Heels) shared in a conversation with Polygon, “Time will tell.” He hopes, though, “that season 1 stands on its own. We always wanted to tell a complete story there. And in whatever the next chapter may be will stand on its own as well.”

Loki season two will return to Disney+ in Summer 2023.
