‘Doctor Who’ Season 10 Trailer Premieres With New Companion Pearl Mackie

BBC America gave Doctor Who fans an extra little Christmas present today.

A new trailer for the upcoming tenth season of the series was released today ahead of the Doctor Who Christmas special, Deadline reports. The short teaser gives fans their first decent look at the Doctor’s new companion, Bill Potts.

Played by stage actress Pearl Mackie, Potts comes off as an eager and curious companion for Capaldi’s Doctor. When cast Mackie described Potts as “cool, strong, sharp, a little bit vulnerable with a bit of geekiness thrown in.” Mackie’s Potts, who served chips before getting drawn into the Doctor’s world of traveling through space and time, replaces Jenna Coleman’s Clara, who had been the Doctor’s companion on the series since 2012.

The trailer also gives a glimpse at things ahead, including Daleks and the lovable Matt Lucas (Little Britain, Bridesmaids). Season 10 is scheduled to premiere sometime in Spring 2017.
