Comic-Con ‘23: ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Official Trailer Released

Just hours ago, fans of The Walking Dead were treated to a first look at the official trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon at San Diego’s Comic-Con. Additionally, a season two renewal was also announced, months ahead of the season one debut. The two-minute trailer, featured below, answers the question of many since the announcement of the spinoff— what is Daryl Dixon doing in France?

The trailer depicts Dixon washing up on shore and coming face to face with a new group. A member of this group, a nun named Isabelle, portrayed by Clémence Poésy (Tenet, Last Love), asks Daryl, “How did you come to be in France?”

Daryl says, “A bunch of bad decisions,” and then a sequence of fight scenes and explosions are shown before the footage returns to Isabelle.

She tells Daryl, “We’ve been waiting for you. You’re the messenger. To deliver Laurent. I know you can get him there safely.” Laurent is an eleven-year-old played by newcomer Louis Puech Scigliuzzi. Isabelle explains the significance of Daryl’s mission to deliver the boy: “To lead the revival of humanity.”

Other members of the cast include Gilbert Glenn Brown (The Young and the Restless, Stargirl), Avant Strangel (Missions, LaGarçonne) and Adam Nagaitis (The Gold, Red Rose).

Norman Reedus’ (The Boondocks Saints, Blade II) Daryl Dixon first appeared in the 2010 premiere of The Walking Dead. Starring in over 170 episodes, Daryl started off as a skilled and bad-tempered hunter in the shadow of his older brother. Over the course of TWD’s eleven seasons, however, Daryl grew to become Rick’s trusted right hand man and a main character after Andrew Lincoln’s (Love Actually, Teachers) departure in season nine.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to premiere on September 10 on AMC and AMC+. Other spinoffs within the Walking Dead universe include Maggie-and-Negan-centered The Walking Dead: Dead City and the continuation of Rick and Michonne’s story in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who LiveFear the Walking Dead will be saying goodbye to the franchise, airing its final six episodes in October.
