‘Black Mirror’ Returns With Season Six Cast As Well As Teaser Trailer Revealed

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Mirror is set to return with season six and the current cast has recently been revealed alongside teaser trailer for the season. The long-awaited Netflix series is back and premiering in June with plans to “reinvent itself with each new episode.” Creator Charlie Brooker (Cunk on Earth) in the first announcement said, “The stories are all still tonally Black Mirror through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before.” The number of episodes for season six has yet to be determined but will have more episodes than season five of the series.

Below is the teaser trailer for the new season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there hasn’t been a new episode of Black Mirror since season five in 2019. Due to COVID-19 Booker believed making more episodes during a global tragedy just felt wrong. With the announcement of season six Booker offered more information and updates on what he has been working on when he spoke to Netflix’s Tudum.

Booker said, “I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people and myself or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself. So partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect. Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is.

Booker continued, “The stories are all still tonally Black Mirror through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before. And bringing it all to life we’ve got an incredible roster of disgustingly skillful, smart directors working with a cast of actors so talented they frankly have no right to exist. I can’t wait for people to binge their way through it all and hope they enjoy it — especially the bits they shouldn’t.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming season cast includes Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Anjana Vasan (Macbeth), Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), Auden Thornton (True Story), Ben Barnes (Seventh Son), Clara Rugaard (Press Play), Daniel Portman (Vigil), Danny Ramirez (No Exit), Himesh Patel (Yesterday), John Hannah (The Mummy), Josh Hartnett (The Faculty), Kate Mara (Shooter), Michael Cera (Barbie), Monica Dolan (Pride), Myha’la Herrold (Industry), Paapa Essiedu (Men), Rob Delaney (Catastrophe), Rory Culkin (Signs), Salma Hayek (Frida), Samuel Blenkin (Atlanta) and Zazie Beetz (Deadpool).
