The BBC original series Line of Duty will extend their sixth season by a singular episode, according to Deadline. In previous seasons, the police drama series has consisted of six episodes, yet the sixth season will now be seven episodes.
Created by Jed Mercurio (Bodyguard), Line of Duty premiered in 2012 and is among one of the most popular series on the network. The drama series centers around a story of police corruption and follows the life of DS Steve Arnott and his new partner DS Kate Fleming for the Anti-Corruption Unit 12. The series cast includes Martin Compston (Sweet Sixteen) as Arnott, Vicky McClure (This Is England, Broadchurch) as Fleming, Craig Parkinson (Misfits) as Inspector Matthew Cottan, Adrian Dunbar (Ashes to Ashes) as Superintendent Ted Hastings, Keeley Hawes (Tomb Raider, Spooks) Inspector Lindsay Denton, Stephen Graham (Gangs of New York, Boardwalk Empire) as Detective sergeant John Corbett, Lennie James (Snatch, The Walking Dead) as Detective Chief Inspector Tony Gates, and many more. The series has premiered 29 episodes over five seasons.
Despite the announcement of the season six extension, Line of Duty does not possess a premiere date for the upcoming series due to delays brought onto the production by COVID-19. Regardless, the BBC Press Office official Twitter account released a short clip of the series which can be viewed below:
