Edwin Hodge Joins CBS Drama Pilot ‘Good Sam’

Edwin Hodge (The Purge) is slated to join the cast of upcoming CBS drama Good Sam opposite Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill), according to DeadlinePreviously announced as cast members of the show included Michael Stahl-David (In Your Eyes), Skye P. Marshall (Indivisible), and Jason Isaacs (The OA).

The medical drama follows Sam, played by Bush, as “a talented yet stifled heart surgeon who embraces her leadership role after her renowned and pompous boss falls into a coma,” via DeadlineHowever, when he awakens, hoping to continue to practice medicine, she must supervise the arrogant surgeon, who also happens to be her father who is played by Isaacs. Stahl-David is set to play Caleb, an arrogant resident who, while possessing the least experience out of his peers, seems to possess twice the confidence. Marshall will take on the role of Dr. Lex Trulie, an ambitious and successful surgeon, despite the lack of support from her family. Both Sam and Lex forge a friendship over being the only two women in the department. Hodge is slated to play Malcolm A. Kingsley. His character’s family is the hospital’s wealthiest donor, yet he still works for the hospital as an administrative executive. Both Sam and Malcolm resonate with each other with respect to the fact that they both struggle with living in the shadows of their fathers.

The series, written by Katie Wech (90210) and Jennie Snyder Urman (Jane the Virgin), was initially ordered by CBS at the beginning of last year. The duo previously worked together as co-executive producers on The CW’s Jane the Virgin, which aired for five seasons. Still, Urman continues to work with The CW on Charmed as well as with CBS on Broke.
