Awards Shows Be Wary; Season Three of ‘Succession’ Is Coming This Fall

Finally, fans can go to sleep at night knowing Cousin Greg is returning to the screen this fall. Everyone’s guilty pleasure, Succession, has finally given some clarity for their release date. Via The Wrap, HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer, Casey Bloys, told reporters last week that the Roys will be coming sometime in the final quarter of the year.

Although it is not a concrete date, any news about Succession is welcome news to fans. The show has done well keeping mum on what is to come after the bombshell that was the season two finale. With the Roy family marching off to war on many fronts, the excitement for the third installment was hitting an all-time peak.

All the hype culminated into one of the biggest hauls of the awards season. Cast and crew alike were rewarded for their impeccable performances, including fantastic night at the Emmys where they won Outstanding Drama Series. Jeremy Strong (The Gentlemen) won for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series and creator Jessie Armstrong won for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series. With critics and audiences alike loving the show, there was no doubt that season three would be one of the biggest releases of 2021 for HBO Max.

The cast for the next season returns all the veterans that have made watching the uber rich frolic around so much fun. Brian Cox (Churchill), Nicholas Braun (Sky High), and Kieran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) are just a few of the names of the returning cast. Season three has also added Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Alexander Skarsgard (Big Little Lies), and Sanaa Lathan (Contagion) for new roles.

The show has also released a synopsis for what is to come in the next season: “Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall (Emmy winner Jeremy Strong) at the end of Season 2, Logan Roy (Brian Cox) begins Season 3 in a perilous position. Scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”

Everything seems to point towards all systems a go for the third season of Succession this fall. Stay tuned for a release date and a trailer as production begins to wrap up on the new installment.
