Apple TV+’s ‘Chief Of War’ Enlists Eight To Join Star Jason Momoa In Series

Apple TV+ has added eight more cast members to its upcoming historical drama series, Chief of War, which stars See’s Jason Momoa, according to Deadline. The nine-episode series also stars Temuera Morrison (The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandolorian) and Luciane Buchanan (Mr. Corman, Stray).

According to DeadlineChief of War follows Hawai’i’s battle with foreign colonization from the perspective of its indigenous people. Momoa is set to star as Ka’iana, while Morrison will play King Kahekili and Buchanan will portray Ka’ahumanu. Joining as series regulars will be Moses Good (NCIS: Hawai’i, Stones) as Moku. Moku is Ka’ahumanu’s father and serves as the Chief Advisor to the destined king, Kamehameha. This young heir to the throne will be played by newcomer Kaina Makua.

Brandon Finn (Magnum P.I., Ala Moana Boys) is set to play King Kahekili’s son, Prince Kūpule, according to Deadline. He is joined by Siua Ikale’o (Pick A Side, They Don’t Cast Shadows) and Te Kohe Tuhaka (The Dead Lands, Love and Monsters) who will play Momoa’s younger brothers Nahi and Namake’, respectively. Te Ao o Hinepehinga (Breakwater, Head High) stars as Momoa’s wife, Kupuohi. Rounding out the main cast are Mainei Kinimaka (Ka Po, The Last Manhunt) as Heke and James Udom (The Sandman, The Tragedy of Macbeth) as Tony.

According to Deadline, the series is produced by Fifth Season and Chernin Entertainment, with Doug Jung (Star Trek Beyond, The Cloverfield Paradox) attached as showrunner. Jung will executive produce along with Momoa, Francis Lawrence (Gotham, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Jenno Topping (Can’t Hardly Wait, The Heat), and Peter Chernin (St. Vincent. Mega Man). Additional producers include Brian Mendoza (Braven, Sweet Girl), Anders Engstrom (Taboo, The Kiss of Evil), and Molly Allen (Th Great Debaters, Vanilla Sky). Justin Chon (21 & Over, Blue Bayou) will direct the first two episodes.

Momoa recently led Apple TV+’s fantasy saga, See, which ended its three-season run earlier this year. He also stars in Netflix’s family fantasy film, Slumberland, which premiered on the streaming platform this month.

There is no set release date for Chief of War.
