ABC Relaunches Streaming App With Short Originals and Old Favorites, Including ‘Samantha Who’ and ‘Ugly Betty’

As a way for ABC to compete against NBC and CBS with their streaming services, ABC recently announced that they are getting into the streaming service game, with one distinct difference. According to Variety, ABC will relaunch their streaming app that will feature new short originals and a whole slew of old favorites. And the best part of the streaming service is that everything is free.

The streaming service, ABCd, is instead going to be supported by ads..

Viewers will be able to watch the new shorts and the old favorite shows on ABC.com and the ABC apps without having to sign in from a television provider.

Some of the new ABC shorts include All My Gay Friends are Getting Married, which is a show in which a girl realizes that her friends are all getting married and she’s still single and feels grumpy about it. Boondoogle stars Ty Burrell as an actor who strikes it big on a new show and he and his friends start living a life a luxury. On The Record is a show where artists perform acoustic sets of their songs and talk about the meaning behind their songs.

Some of the other shows include Newborn Moms, I Can Find $3,000 In Your Home, Forever 31 and Tastemade’s Get Cooking, which is sponsored by Hefty.

ABCd will also feature over 30 fan favorite shows that will be available on the streaming service. 8 Simple Rules, Benched, Betrayal, Body of Proof, Brothers & Sisters, Commander in Chief, Detroit, Dinosaurs, Dirty Sexy Money, Ellen, Felicity, FlashForward, Happy Town, Hope and Faith, I Survived a Japanese Game Show, The Knights of Prosperity, Less Than Perfect, Manhattan Love Story, Mixology, My Generation, My So-Called Life, The Neighbors, October Road, Off the Map, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Perception, Reaper, Red Band Society, The River, Samantha Who?, School House Rock, Secret Millionaire, Smart Guy, Sports Night, Trophy Wife, Ugly Betty and What About Brian? will all be available to stream on ABCd.

With the relaunch of the streaming app, could the Ugly Betty revival movie that star America Ferrera wanted to do at Hulu possibly have a new home on the streaming app? Only time will tell.

The redesigned ABC app is available for download on Apple’s App Store and the Apple TV app. The regular app is available on ABC.com, Amazon Appstore, Google Play, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Xbox 360.
