WestWorld’s Finale Earned HBO’s Highest Ratings

 

There is so much buzz with the HBO series, Westworld. In fact, the season one finale earned its highest ratings for any HBO shows this season. They raked in 2.2 million viewers. The sci-fi drama is unusual but is very interesting, especially the explosive final recap titled “The Bicameral Mind”: New Gods Will Walk. The 90-minute season 1 finale was a series high. According to  deadline.com on the linear network, up on the linear network, up 7% from last week and a series high. With replays and viewing on HBO Go/Now, the total Sunday night audience for the season closer rose to 3.6 million, up 5% from last week.

Since Westworld premiered in October, the numbers doubled on viewership on HBO’s digital platforms. Also, according to  deadline, there was an average of 12 million viewers across all platforms, Westworld now ranks as the most-watched first season of an HBO original series ever. Luckily, HBO plans to renew the series and there will a second season.

What is the premise behind the show’s main story, well  it was created by Johnathon Nolan and Lisa joy is it basically based on the cult movie Westworld.  On the  IMBd website, the series is inspired by the 1973 movie of the same title written by Michael Crichton about a futuristic theme park populated by artificial beings. It has become a commercial success for HBO and a few of its stars like Ed Harris and Rachael Evan Wood greatly acted their parts on this uplifting series.

In all, the show had landed two major WGA award nominations, one for best drama series and the other for best new series. No wonder that it has been renewed for a second season, with accolades in acting performances and great plot lines and stories, they will receive even more recognition. If researched online, there is an overwhelming amount of recognition for this show, marking it the first big drama launched by HBO since the True Detective in January 2014.

If all goes well, it will surpass the ratings for the show the true detective, making it headlines and history. Because Westworld isn’t like any other show. It hails from Warner Brothers TV and according to deadline.com J.J Abram’s Bad Robot. The series was created after so much buzz over artificial intelligence TV shows comebacks like The X Files. The future is looking bright for the how the Westworld and hope will cause a deeper stir next season.
