Michael Ian Black & ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Team Developing TBS Series ‘Moon Cruise’

TBS is going back to Michael Showalter for more quality content.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, TBS has begun development on half-hour, single-camera comedy series Moon Cruise. The series is set to star Stella’s Michael Ian Black and is produced by fellow Stella members Michael Showalter and David Wain. Jonathan Stern, who produced Stella: Live in Boston and Wain’s Wainy Days, is also producing. The four all previously worked together on Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer reboot series.

Not much is known about the Black created Moon Cruise so far, except that it is described as The Love Boat in space. The series marks TBS’ second series from Showalter, who co-created Search Party. TBS has been re branding this year, shifting focus to edgier comedies. It seems to have been successful so far as the channel has renewed Search Party along with People of Earth, Angie Tribeca, Wrecked and The Detour.

Black has had a very busy 2016, starring in Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome’s Another Period and Jim Gaffigan and Peter Tolan’s The Jim Gaffigan Show. This year also saw Black as moderator for Seeso’s Debate Wars, and the premiere of Black’s comedy special Michael Ian Black: Noted Expert, which aired on Epix.
