‘Gen V’ Producers Announce They Will Not Recast Chance Perdomo’s Andre In Season Two

According to Comicbook, the creative team behind Prime Video’s Gen V has decided not to recast the character Andre Anderson, who was portrayed by the late actor, Chance Perdomo (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina). Perdomo died in motorcycle accident in March. The announcement comes a day after Prime Video released The Boys’ fourth season trailer.

The producers detailed their decision to honor Perdomo in a statement posted to Gen V‘s Twitter/X account.

“As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory,” the X post read. “We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”

Production on season two was scheduled to begin shortly before Perdomo’s untimely death. The series was one of last year’s biggest hits, scoring renewal nearly a month after its debut last September. Set in The Boys universe, Gen V follows the lives of aspiring college students at the only school for supes, Goldokin University. While most end up banking on an acting career, a select few graduate as a member of The Seven. Unfortunately, these dreams are deferred when a sinister secret is unleashed after one of the school’s prized pupils dies in a twisted murder-suicide.

The series stars Jaz Sinclair (The Vampire Diaries), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Midnight Sun), Lizzie Broadway (American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules), Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters), Derek Luh (Runaways), London Thor (Never Have I Ever), and Asa German (Ned and Stacy).

According to Comicbook, the writers will have an interesting task on their hands given where Perdomo’s character finished season one. However, a particular angle in Anderson’s arc about his family could serve as a potential way to write the character in a different direction.

Season one of Gen V is available to stream on Prime Video.
