TNT’s ‘Snowpiercer’ to Air Two Hour Season Two Finale on March 29

The TNT original series Snowpiercer is preparing to wrap up its second season and will do so with a two-hour season finale episode set to air on Monday, March 29 at 9 PM EST, according to a TNT press release. The original series first premiered in May 2020 and announced the second season was on its way during the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first season consisted of ten hour-long episodes while this on-going second season also maintains a ten-episode run with its eighth episode airing on March 15 and episodes nine and ten acting as the two-hour season finale on March 29.

Snowpiercer is a television adaptation of the 2013 film under the same name which was directed by Academy Award winner Bong Joon-ho (Parasite) and follows the same post-apocalyptic narrative. The series features the world during an ice age in which the only survivors that remain are the individuals occupying a self-sufficient super train that circumnavigates the globe. The train is split up into three different social classes based on their ticket in addition to stowaways that are mistreated in the rear end of the train. The series navigates social class warfare through this narrative as it promotes protagonists from the stowaways against the hierarchical system. 

The series cast includes the likes of Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Alison Wright (The Americans), Lena Hall (Girls), Sheila Vand ()Argo, Iddo Goldberg (Peaky Blinders), Sam Otto (The State), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Steven Ogg (Westworld, The Walking Dead), Mickey Sumner (Low Winter Sun), Annalise Basso (The Red Road), Jennifer Connelly (Once Upon a Time in America, A Beautiful Mind), and many more. 

The season finale was announced to be a two-hour ordeal after interference from the on-going NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament which will air on TNT on Monday, March 22 which has led to this long season finale.
