Kingsley Ben-Adir Cast as the Villain in Upcoming Marvel Series ‘Secret Invasion’ at Disney+

Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami) has been cast in the upcoming Marvel series Secret Invasion at Disney+, according to Deadline. Ben-adir will co-star as the villain opposite Samuel L. Jackson (Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Ben Mendhelson (Rogue One).

Jackson will be reprising his role as Nick Fury in Secret Invasion, along with Mendhelson reprising his role as Skrull Talos. The pair first came into contact in the 2019 film Captain Marvel. Ben-adir will play the leading villain, though Deadline reported Marvel declined to comment on the specifics as of yet.

Secret Invasion is based on the crossover comic book series of the same name. Much of the upcoming Disney+ series has been kept secret, but the basic plot will follow the shape-shifting Skrulls as they infiltrate the earth and infiltrate important positions of power

Coming off of a very successful year, Ben-Adir starred as Malcolm X in the critically acclaimed film One Night in Miami directed by Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk). Already receiving several accolades, the nominations for the 2021 Academy Awards were announced early Monday morning and the film received three. It was nominated for Best Original Song, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton). The Oscars will air on ABC, April 25.

Ben-Adir also appeared as President Barack Obama in the 2020 Showtime limited series The Comey Rule. His other notable television credits include starring roles in Netflix’s The OA and Peaky Blinders, along with Hulu’s one season wonder High Fidelity.
