Three Major Characters Returning for Final Season of ‘The Flash’

According to Comicbook, it was announced by the CW that Jessica Parker Kennedy (The Secret Circle, Another Cinderella Story), Rick Cosnett (I Miss You, Skybound), and Matt Letscher (Super Sucker, The Teacher of the Year) will be returning for the ninth and final season of The Flash. The actors will presumably be returning as Nora Allen-West, Eddie Thwayne, and Reverse Flash. However, after the introduction of Dark Multiverse doppelganger The Red Death, they may be back as different versions of these characters.

Kennedy played the daughter of Iris and Barry who was also a speedster by the name of XS. She was from the future and returned to help Barry after having never known him because he died in Crisis on Infinite Earths when she was young. Nora is eventually wiped from existence in season five after conflict with the Cicada, however Barry was able to survive and restore the timeline.

Eddie Thwayne, portrayed by Cosnett, was Iris’ boyfriend and Central City police detective in season one of the series. His character died by taking his own life once it was reveled that he was an ancestor of notable villain Reverse Flash in hopes that he would never be born. Eddie has returned in alternate realities and flashbacks in seasons two, three, and eight. Fans have speculated that Eddie may return as a version of the villain Cobalt Blue.

Letscher portrayed the true appearance of Reverse Flash while Tom Cavanagh (Ed, Yogi Bear) portrayed the villain’s most commonly used disguise, Harrison Wells. As a result, Letscher was only in a few episodes of the series, however he played Reverse Flash for an entire season on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow .

Season one of The Flash premiered on October 7, 2014 and the final season will be premiering on February 8, 2023 on the CW. The previous eight seasons are available to stream on Netflix and Prime Video.
