HBO Max has released the first official teaser and first-look images for Season Three of The Pitt, offering an early look at the medical drama’s return. According to a Warner Bros. Discovery press release, The Pitt is beginning the buildup to its next chapter, which will premiere on HBO Max in January 2027, with an exact date still to be announced.
The Emmy-winning series returns in January 2027 after a second season that earned 26 Emmy Award nominations. Created by R. Scott Gemmill (ER, NCIS: Los Angeles), The Pitt follows healthcare workers dealing with the pressures of working inside a modern-day Pittsburgh hospital.
The press release notes that Noah Wyle (ER, Falling Skies) returns as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, leading an ensemble that includes Patrick Ball (Law & Order, ReEntry) as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa (Truth Be Told, Imposters) as Dana Evans, Fiona Dourif (Chucky, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) as Dr. McKay and Taylor Dearden (American Vandal, For All Mankind) as Dr. King. Alongside them, Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard, Goosebumps), Gerran Howell (Catch-22, Young Dracula), Shabana Azeez (The Twelve, In Limbo), Ayesha Harris (Daisy Jones & The Six, This Is Us), Sepideh Moafi (Black Bird, The L Word: Generation Q) and Shawn Hatosy (Animal Kingdom, Southland) also return.
The teaser arrives after some discussion surrounding changes to the season three cast. As mxdwn previously reported, Wyle addressed fan reactions to the departures of Supriya Ganesh (Billions, Grown-ish) and Tracy Ifeachor (Treadstone, The Originals), who played Dr. Samira Mohan and Dr. Heather Collins, respectively. Both departures were reportedly creative decisions.
In that earlier coverage, Wyle explained that the creative team evaluates each season to determine which parts of the story should continue. He also warned that cast changes will remain part of The Pitt as the series moves forward, suggesting the hospital’s lineup will continue evolving between seasons.
HBO Max has not revealed specific story details for season three. The series will continue its focus on the challenges facing healthcare workers in America through the doctors and staff working on the front lines.
