The BBC Will Honor the Centenary of WWI With Four Years of Programing

The BBC network has put into production over 130 programs with over 2,500 hours of WWI content, that will span four years from 2014 to 2018.

The four years will signify the length of the first great war. The Hollywood Reporter details that among the programming will be an interview with entertainment mogul Rupert Murdoch about his father’s reporting on the Gallipoli campaign, a botched English and French naval mission in modern-day Turkey.

“This season is going to have a profound impact on the way we think about World War One,” said BBC director general Tony Hall. “On television, on radio and on digital, we’ll be exploring how this conflict, above all others, shaped our families, our communities, our world — and continues to influence us today.”
