Summer Premiere Dates for FX & FXX Series

FX and FXX have released the summer premiere dates for their new and returning original series.

Premiering this summer on the FX and FXX networks are new original dramas Tyrant and The Strain, as well as new comedies Married and You’re the Worst. The returning original series include Wilfred and The Bridge.

On June 24, new drama series Tyrant will make its premiere at 10 PM ET/PT. The series centers on ordinary American family drawn into the lifestyle of a turbulent Middle Easter nation. After 20-years in exile, Bassam “Barry” Al Fayeed, returns to his homeland with his American family for his nephew’s wedding. He is the son of the dictator of a war-torn nation and there is a clash of cultures upon his return as he is thrown back into familial and national politics of his youth. The cast includes Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan, Ashraf Barhom, Moran Atias, Noah Silver, Anne Winters, Fares Fares, Salim Daw, Justin Kirk, Jordana Spiro, Mehdi Dehbi, and Alice Krige.

Fox 21 and FX Productions produce Tyrant. Executive producers are Howard Gordon, Craig Wright, Glenn Gordon Caron, Gideon Raff, David Yates, Michael Lehmann, Peter Noah, and Avi Nir.

The fourth and final season of Wilfred premieres on June 25 at 10 PM ET/PT. The half-hour comedy follows Ryan, a young man trying to make it through life until he forms a unique friendship with “Wilfred,” the neighbor’s pet dog. While everyone else sees Wilfred as a dog, Ryan sees a crude, surly and unmanageably brave Australian man in a dog suit.

FX Productions produces Wilfred. It stars Elijah Wood as Ryan and Jason Gann as Wilfred. Executive producers are David Zuckerman, Reed Agnew, Eli Jorné, Jason Gann, Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz of Prospect Park, Randall Einhorn, and Joe Connor and Ken Connor of Renegade.

The Peabody Award-Winning series The Bridge returns on July 9 at 10 PM ET/PT. The series centers on El Paso PD detective Sonya Cross and her Mexican counterpart, Marco Ruiz, as they must work together to solve a case when the body of a cartel member is found on US soil. The series stars Diane Kruger, Demian Bichir, Annabeth Gish, Thomas M. Wright, Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios and Ted Levine. Exeutive producers are Meredith Stiehm, Elwood Reid, Carolyn G. Bernstein and Lars Blomgren.

New drama series The Strain premieres on July 13 at 10 PM ET/PT. The series comes from Guillermo del Toro, author Chuck Hogan and writer/producer Carton Cuse. The series is based on the best-selling vampire novel trilogy written by del Toro and Hogan. Centering on Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, it follows him and his team as they investigae a mysterious viral outbreak that is similar to that on an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.

FX Productions produces The Strain. Executive producers are del Toro, Hogan, Cuse and Gary Ungar.

Thursday, July 17 will serve as the premiere date for new comedy series Married and You’re the Worst. At 10 PM ET/PT, Married will premiere and it centers on Russ and Lina Bowman who struggle to remember life before kids, debt, and suburbia. Andrew Gurland created; executive produced and directed the pilot script. Also executive producing are Paul Young and Peter Principato.

New comedy You’re the Worst will premiere immediately after Married at 10:30 PM ET/PT. It centers on a love story where two toxic, self-destructive individuals fall in love and attempt to have a relationship. The series stars Aya Cash, Chris Geere, Kether Donahue, and Desmin Borges. It was created by Stephen Falk who also wrote the pilot and serves as executive producer/showrunner.
