Starz is bringing Gods and Deadites to the San Diego Comic-Con this year.
According to Deadline, the cable channel is bringing returning series Ash Vs. Evil Dead and freshman series American Gods to SDCC. Both shows will have panels at the San Diego Convention Center, and some of the cast from each are also set to do signings.
The Bruce Campbell-starring horror/comedy series Ash Vs. Evil Dead makes its return to SDCC this year. Campbell will be joined on the panel by Lucy Lawless (Ruby), Ray Santiago (Pablo), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly), and season 2 Ash Vs. Evil Dead additions Michelle Hurd, Ted Raimi and Lee Majors. Fans will no doubt have plenty of questions for the panel about where season one’s finale left Ash, and how Jacksonville is holding up for him. The panel is scheduled for July 23rd at 6:45 p.m. in Room 6A, along with an Ash Vs. Evil Dead screening at 10 p.m. that same night in Room 6DE. Outside of the convention center itself, Campbell is set to sign autographs at the Ash Vs. Evil Dead cabin in Petco Park.
American Gods will be making its first appearance as a TV show at Comic-Con this year, though SDCC goers are no stranger to the Neil Gaiman novel the show is based on. The panel will include Gaiman (also an executive producer on the series), Bryan Fuller (showrunner), Ian McShane (Mr. Wednesday), Ricky Whittle (Shadow Moon), Yetide Badaki (Bilquis), Pablo Schreiber (Mad Sweeney), Bruce Langley (Technical Boy) and Michael Green (executive producer). There are rumors that footage of American Gods will be revealed at the panel as well. The panel is scheduled for July 22nd at 3:15 p.m. in Room 6BCF, and some of the American Gods cast are also set to sign autographs at 4:45 p.m.the same day at the Starz booth.
Starz just recently made headlines when the premium cable network was bought by Lionsgate for whopping $4.4 billion. The glaring omission from Starz’s SDCC lineup is the channel’s hit time-travel, period drama Outlander, though this is not much of a surprise considering the series is just about to wrap up its second season.
Comic-Con has become a key part of television and movies in recent years, with each field using the diehard fan-filled convention as a place to share new footage and gauge reactions of upcoming projects. This year the San Diego Comic-Con will have a preview night on July 20th, and then will go from July 21st-July 24th.
