Showtime Picks Up ‘Ray Donovan’ For Fifth Season

Liev Schreiber’s Ray Donovan may keep getting knocked down, but Showtime is there to keep picking him back up.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Showtime CEO and president David Nevins announced at the TCAs that the cabler has ordered a fifth season of the Hollywood crime/family drama.

Ray Donovan stars Schreiber, Jon Voight, Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall, Steven Bauer, Katherine Moennig, Kerris Dorsey and Devon Bagby. The series was created by Ann Biderman. David Hollander, Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff and Lou Fusaro serve as executive producers on the Showtime-produced series.

Ray Donovan, which tells the story of a Hollywood “fixer” struggling with his complicated past and family history, is currently airing its fourth season on Sundays at 9. Season 4 of the series premiered early online, move that has become more and more commonplace (Billions, Shameless, and Mr. Robot for example). The twelve episodes of season five are scheduled to go into production sometime next year.

The Showtime series has earned five Emmy nominations for the cabler this year, including a best actor nod for Schreiber’s knockout performance, supporting actor for Voight, and a guest star in a drama nod for The Simpsons alum Hank Azaria.
