‘Rookie Blue’ Renewed for a Fifth Season

The summer drama Rookie Blue will come back for another season. ABC has renewed its co-production from ICF Film and Entertainment One for a fifth season.

The Hollywood Reporter caught word of the renewal from the series’ official Twitter feed: “Season 5 confirmed! A big huge Thank You to all our amazing fans who made this happen! You renewed the blue!”

Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith star in the drama, which has been on standby since launching in 2010. Ratings for the show have dipped slightly during the current season; the most recent episode pulled a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating. This resulted in the series losing its time slot to NBC’s Hollywood Game Night, which is one of ABC’s strongest originals this season.

The fifth season of Rookie Blue will resume production in Toronto. Tassie Cameron, Ilana Frank, David Wellington and John Morayniss serve as executive producers.
