Rashida Jones Is Up For A ‘Parks and Rec’ Revival

Fans of NBC’s Parks and Rec have been hoping for a reunion for years, and they have Rashida Jones’s (The Office, I Love You Man) support. According to Deadline, Jones says she is “ready any time” for the cast to come back together for a revival.

Jones played Ann Perkins, a nurse that begins working for the Parks and Recreation department, for the entirety of the series’s seven seasons. The show spanned from 2009 to 2015, but there has been no confirmation of a reunion.

The series finale included a time-jump to the future, set in 2025.

“Wait, were we in 2025 in the end? That’s so crazy,” Jones told GoldDerby. She followed up by saying that filming a revival is show creator Michael Schur (A Man on the Inside, The Good Place) choice. Schur co-created the series with Greg Daniels (The Office, King of the Hill).

Jones also said to GoldDerby ““Oh man, I hope sometime soon. I know Mike Schur was like, ‘There has to be a reason for us to do it. We can’t just do it.’ But I would love that.”

Deadline reported that Schur has also spoken about possible revival. I think that in the world we live in now, nothing is ever gone,” he said to Variety in 2019.

“I felt the show had an argument to make, and the argument was about teamwork and friendship. I don’t feel like we left anything on the table. I would never ever say never. The chance to do it again, should it arise, would be incredible, but we would only do it if we all felt like there was something compelling us to do it,” continued Schur. “If one single person said no, we wouldn’t do it.”

The flash forward in the 2015 finale features Ann alongside her husband Chris, played by Rob Lowe (The Outsiders, St. Elmos Fire) and their children, reconnecting with her longtime best friend Leslie Knope, played by Amy Pohler (Sisters, Mean Girls), just as Leslie embarks on her campaign for governor of Indiana.
