Prime Video Gives ‘Reacher’ Early Season Five Renewal

Prime Video has renewed Reacher for fifth season ahead of the show’s upcoming fourth season premiere, according to an Amazon MGM Studios press release. The action series stars Alan Ritchson (Fast X, Blue Mountain State) as Jack Reacher, the former military police investigator based on Lee Child’s (Killing Floor, Persuader) bestselling novels.

Since debuting in 2022, the series has become one of Prime Video’s biggest original hits and one of the platform’s strongest-performing action dramas. According to the press release, season three reached 54.6 million viewers globally within its first 19 days on the platform.

Amazon also stated that the latest season became the service’s most-watched returning series since Fallout season one over the same timeframe, further reinforcing the franchise’s popularity. Season four is currently in production and will adapt Gone Tomorrow, the 13th novel in Child’s Jack Reacher series.

The series is developed by Nick Santora (Prison Break, FUBAR), who continues serving as showrunner and executive producer. Lee Child also remains involved as an executive producer alongside Ritchson. Prime Video has not yet revealed full story details beyond confirming the adaptation of Gone Tomorrow. While Prime Video has not yet announced an official premiere date, the company confirmed that a fifth season has already been approved ahead of season four’s debut.

mxdwn has previously covered the continued growth of the Reacher franchise as production expanded into its next season. One earlier report focused on season four completing production while also highlighting how Alan Ritchson’s growing public image was helping shape the series’s identity.

Renewing the series before season four even premieres signals strong confidence from Amazon in the franchise’s long-term performance and audience reach. Alongside the main series, Amazon continues developing Neagley, a spin-off centered on Frances Neagley, further expanding the world built around Jack Reacher.

As of now, Prime Video has not announced premiere dates for either season four or season five. However, with multiple projects now connected to the franchise, Reacher is expected to remain one of the platform’s central action properties moving forward.
