Possible Lucifer Cameo in Arrowverse “Crisis on Infinite Earths”

Is the devil making an appearance in the Arrowverse? Tom Ellis (Lucifer) was spotted on the set of the Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths” dressed like his character Lucifer Morningstar.

What could Lucifer be doing with the all-star line up of superheroes? Lucifer is based on Neil Gaiman’s character Lucifer from his comic book series The Sandman. DC Comics originally published the comic book in 1989, and it ran until 1996. While The Sandman is slightly removed from the goings-on of the DC universe, there are a couple of character tie ins that explain why Ellis’s character could be in the crossover.

Canadaraphs tweeted that Matt Ryan was also present for this mysterious scene. Ryan plays John Constantine in Legends of Tomorrow. Constantine is a wizard who has dabbled many times with demons and visiting hell. The season finale of Legends found some members of the team making a trek into hell to save Ray Plamer. The groundwork has been laid, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for DC to include Lucifer in the Arrowverse.

Superfans of The Sandman might have read the spinoff of the series titled Lucifer. In the fifth issue of that series, Constantine does make an appearance at Lucifer’s bar but never actually meets the demon.

Lucifer ran on FOX for three seasons before being canceled two weeks before its season finale in 2018. Fans quickly rallied to get their show picked up by another network. A month later, Netflix announced that they would be picking up the show for their fourth season. This past summer Netflix renewed it for fifth and final season

Since Lucifer isn’t a CW show, it’s not part of the Arrowverse canon. Fans might wonder if Ellis will be playing the Lucifer they know and love? Even if not, Ellis playing any Lucifer adjacent character will be a subtle nod for the fans that will surely excite them.
