‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Promises Exciting Changes and Movie Influences

The writers are still in the process of season 4 for Stranger Things, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have fun and tease us about the show’s process. The new season is shaping up with plenty of movie references, including Bill and Ted, and the beloved sci-fi series will expand in a lot of exciting ways according to some of their official announcements and twitter teasers.

The hit series is inspired by a numerous movie influences, some of which include Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter. Set in the 80’s time period, it makes for an interestingly unique show that has quickly risen in popularity and the charts for television favorites.

To start, Stranger Things’s creators announced a massive deal with Netflix in order to generate some more original content. After their remarkable success in 2016 with the first season, it’s no surprise that Stranger Things wants to tap into the streaming service to reach even more fans. While we don’t know the full details on the official release date, there are some clues that we can draw about the show. For one, it seems like the change in location will be outside of Indiana considering season 3’s ending scene and split. Secondly, writers have promised more references down the line, and there’s actually a weekly tweet that they’re starting to integrate some of them.

On the topic of references and how important they are to the show, the writers of ST are actively hinting at the show’s progress through weekly tweets. In an attempt to better interact with fans, they’re now doing “Video Store Fridays” which will take 5 movies discussed in that week and implement it as a reference to the show. So far, it’s led to an interesting combination of influences, such as The Peanut Butter Solution, The Fisher King, You’ve Got Mail, and so on.

We haven’t the faintest clue as to how some of these movie references will relate to the story, but it’s fun to think about how the writers will integrate it. In addition, all the new possibilities with the weekly trends on Friday now open up a lot for the show, and that’s especially exciting for fans to engage with.
