Olivia Colman Starring In New HBO Drama ‘Landscapers’

Deadline has reported that Olivia Colman will be starring in Landscapers, a new crime drama that will air on HBO and Sky. The television screenplay was written by Ed Sinclair, Colman’s husband, which is also his first dip into the world of television writing. The show will be jointly produced by South Of The River Pictures, a new production company birthed through the married Colman and Sinclair.

Landscapers will additionally be produced by Sister, the production company responsible for another hit HBO program Chernobyl, which earned ten Emmys. Like Chernobyl, Landscapers will be a dramatization of real life events.

According to Deadline, Landscapers will follow the adventures of two killers, Susan and Christopher Edwards, a couple from the UK who murdered Susan’s parents, a crime that had gone unsolved for a decade. After killing Susan’s parents, Patricia and William Wycherley, in cold blood and burying them in their lawn, the couple later went on to empty the bank accounts of the now deceased Wycherleys and spent the money mostly on Hollywood souvenirs. Colman will be playing Susan, and the show will be based on extensive information gathered on the case, such as interviews and testimony from the murderous pair themselves who advocate for their innocence to this day.

The series is set to begin filming on Spring 2020 and, in addition to HBO in the US, will air on UK’s NowTV, Sky Atlantic, Sky in Ireland, Germany and Spain. Colman offered her own two cents on her latest project.

“I love Ed’s scripts, which is just as well as he cooks many of my meals.” The Oscar winner said. “No, the truth is it’s quite rare to be desperate to play a part on the first reading of a script, but that was the case here. The writing is brave, but subtle and tender too – a joy for any actor.”
