Nickelodeon Releases First Look of ‘The Patrick Star Show’ In Teaser Trailer

Fans of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants received the first look of a new spinoff series starring a beloved character. Deadline reports the children’s network released teaser trailer for The Patrick Star Show today. Set to premiere later this summer, the show centers on the salmon-colored best friend’s home life. According to Deadline, the series follows Patrick Star, voiced by Bill Fagerbakke (Coach, How It Met Your Mother) and his family of odd characters. Viewers will enter the Stars’ world via Patrick’s imaginative talk show which he hosts from his bedroom. The show will introduce us to Patrick’s parents, Bunny and Cecil; his talk show set manager, younger sister, Squidina; and, grandfather Star, Grandpat. Despite his family being ignorant of Patrick’s particular exploits, they support him nonetheless.

According to Deadline, the series is executive produced by Marc Ceccarelli (Uncle Grandpa, Phenis and Ferb), Vincent Waller (The Ren and Stimpy Show, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy), and Jennie Monica (The X’s, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water). The series will be overseen by Nickelodeon’s Vice President of Current Series, Animation, Kelley Gardner. Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President of Animation Development at Nickelodeon, will develop the show for television.

In addition to Fagerbakke, the voice cast includes Tom Wilson (The Heat, Back to the Future), Jill Talley (Loud House, Mr. Show), Dana Snyder (Paradise PD, Aqua Teen Hunger Force), and Cree Summer (Codename: Kids Next Door, A Different World) via Deadline. The supporting cast includes original series’ actors Mr. Lawrence (SpongeBob:Truth Or Square, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water), Rodger Bumpass (SpongeBob SquarePants, Teen Titans GO!), Carolyn Lawrence (Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, SpongeBob SquarePants), Tom Kenny (Paradise PD, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie), and Clancy Brown (Thor: Ragnarok, The Shawshank Redemption). 

SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg (Rocko’s Modern Life, The Green Beret) in 1996. Nickelodeon premiered the series three years later. It ran for 13 seasons, spawning an array of films, a Broadway musical, and two other spinoff series.
