Netflix Renews ‘Grace and Frankie’ for Season Four and Announces Lisa Kudrow Guest Appearance

Deadline has confirmed that Netflix has renewed Grace and Frankie for a fourth season, which makes sense since the show has already started production on its fourth season. The biggest surprise is that Lisa Kudrow, known her roles as Phoebe Buffay on Friends and Val Cherish on The Comeback, will have a guest appearance in the fourth season.

Kudrow will play Sheree, Grace’s (Jane Fonda) manicurist. The two become closer, which will inevitably make Frankie (Lily Tomlin) feel a little jealous that someone is coming between the two of them.

This role will reunite Kudrow with Grace and Frankie co-creator Marta Kauffman, who co-created Friends, which aired on NBC for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2004.

This will also mark Kudrow’s second appearance on a Netflix series after she appeared on the season two finale of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt finale as Kimmy’s mom, Lori-Ann.

Kudrow has kept busy since Friends ended nearly 13 years ago. In terms of movies, she’s been a cast member in films including Easy A, P.S. I Love You and currently voices a character in Boss Baby.

In terms of television, she starred in, co-created, wrote for and was an executive producer of The Comeback, which aired on HBO in 2005 and again in 2014. She also starred in, co-created, wrote and executive produced Web Therapy, where she played a therapist, Fiona, who conducted therapy sessions in an online session instead of in an office.

Grace and Frankie centers on two women who become friends after they learn that their husbands, Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterston), are gay and are leaving them. The two, who didn’t originally like each other, have to cope with becoming friends after the news about their husbands.

The first three seasons of Grace and Frankie are available for streaming on Netflix. Currently, there’s no premiere date scheduled for the fourth season, but it’s expected to be released in the spring of 2018.
