According to Deadline, Netflix announced giving series order to Dad’s House, an adult animated comedy series that will be executive produced by Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends, Damo and Darren), Dario Russo (Italian Spider-Man, Top Knot Detective) and David Ashby (Koala Man, At Home Alone Together). Cusack, Russ and Ashby also serve as showrunners and star in the voice cast, along with Felicity Ward (The Office, The Inbetweeners 2). The series hails from Princess Studios and Bento Box Entertainment.
As per Deadline, Dad’s House is set in suburban Australia, where a 13-year-old child of divorce, Sean, spends every second weekend with his laidback, but well-meaning dad, Ian. Although trying to fit enough quality dad time is already hard, Ian had a gift for making it even more difficult than it should be.
According to Deadline, the animated series joins vast amount of adult animated series, including upcoming series Mating Season, Dang!, Alley Cats and Haunted Hotel season two, Long Story Short!, Big Mouth and BoJack Horseman.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, in February, Cusack joined Smiling Friends co-creator Zach Hadel (The Amazing Digital Circus, One Plays) in a video that was posted to social media to announce that they had decided to end their Adult Swim absurdist animated series. The adult animated series Smiling Friends debuted in 2022 and centered on co-workers Charlie and Pim, whose job required them to go make clients happy by any means.
“To be perfectly honest, after we finished season three, Zach and I just both had the same feeling where we felt pretty burnt out after putting years and years into this, but also pretty accomplished,” Cusack via The Hollywood Reporter, who also created Adult Swim’s YOLO, explained at the time. “We just came to this feeling where we’re like, ‘I think that could just be it after season three.’ We both felt like it was right.”
