According to ComicBook, Anna Camp (True Blood, Pitch Perfect film series) and Griffin Matthews (The Flight Attendant, The Mentalist) have been cast by Netflix for the final season of You. They join Madeline Brewer (Orange Is the New Black, The Handmaid’s Tale) who has also been recently casted for the series. According to ComicBook, Netflix has yet to announce the season five premiere date.
Camp will play Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, who are twin sisters-in-laws to Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl, Easy A).
Matthews will portray Teddy Lockwood, who is the brother-in-law of Joe Goldberg.
According to Netflix, per the You loglines: “Based on Caroline Kepnes’ (Hidden Bodies, You Love Me) best-selling novel of the same name, ‘What would you do for love?’ When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes an obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way.”
According to ComicBook, series creators Greg Berlanti (Dawson’s Creek, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Sarah Schechter (Arrow, Doom Patrol) said in a statement during the final season announcement, “We are so incredibly grateful to Netflix and Sera [Gamble] (The Magicians, Supernatural) and everyone that has been a part of this show from the beginning. Sera is the most brilliant writer and partner and she will remain a key part of the YOU family as an executive producer. We intend to bring her every idea we can from our company for years to come. Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes’ fantastic book we have always conceived it as a five-season journey. We are excited to continue our relationship with Mike [Foley] and Justin [Lo] as they take over the reins as co-showrunners and prepare to bring Joe Goldberg home.”
Camp was recently a judge in the Netflix show Is it Cake? hosted by Mikey Day (Saturday Night Live, Mad). She guest judged with Melissa Villaseñor (Toy Story 4, Adventure Time) and Joel Kim Booster (Big Mouth, Loot).
Matthews recently acted in Genius alongside Samantha Colley (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Victoria), Seth Gabel (Big Sky, Fringe) and Antonio Banderas (The Mask of Zorro, Desperado).
