Netflix Announces Premiere Date For Remaining Episodes of ‘Lucifer’ Season Five

After revealing the series will conclude following its sixth season, Netflix’s Lucifer will premiere the latter half of season five, entitled season 5B, episodes on May 28, according to Deadline. The streaming series originated on Fox for its first seasons before being acquired by the streaming giant for its fourth, fifth, and subsequent upcoming and final sixth season. Created by Tom Kapinos (Californication), the series premiered for Fox in January 2016 and has released total of 75 episodes prior to the new eight that will be joining season five. The first half of this fifth season was previously made available for streaming on August 21, 2020

Lucifer centers on the titular character Lucifer Morningstar who is the devil that is living in modern-day Los Angeles after becoming frustrated with observing and ruling Hell. In his return to the City of Angels, Morningstar acquired and operates a local nightclub before being intertwined with a murder investigation and subsequently gets hired as a consultant for the LAPD. The series features Tom Ellis (Miranda, The Fades) as the titular character alongside Lauren German (A Walk to Remember, Chicago Fire) as Detective Chloe Decker. Additional cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt (Spartacus: Blood and Sand), Kevin Alejandro (True Blood, Southland), D.B. Woodside (Parenthood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Scarlett Estevez (Daddy’s Home), Tricia Hefler (Battlestar Galactica), Rachael Harris (Reno 911!, New Girl), Inbar Lavi (Imposters, Prison Break), Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Vegas) and many more. 

Currently, Netflix has previously announced that it will begin its production for its sixth and final season immediately following the conclusion of season five filming, which wrapped in fall 2020. It has been previously announced that Ellis would make his return to the Lucifer Morningstar character ahead of any other reveals for the future final season.
