‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Cast Announced

With production beginning on Disney+’s newest Star Wars series, the official cast for Obi-Wan Kenobi was announced, according to a Disney press release. The series is expected to take place ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi witnessed the downfall of his best friend, Anakin Skywalker when he turned into the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Hayden Christensen (Jumper) will reprise his role as Darth Vader while Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Joel Edgerton (The Gift), Bonnie Piesse (The Vow), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Indira Varma (Paranoid), Rupert Friend (Hitman: Agent 47), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Den of Thieves), Sung Kang (Fast & Furious), Simone Kessell (Reckoning), and Benny Safdie (Good Time) will join the cast. Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by The Mandalorian director of two episodes, Deborah Chow (The High Cost of Living).

The upcoming series is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy (Indiana Jones 5), Michelle Rejwan (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Joby Harold (Awake), who will also serve as writer, and Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge!). The series is just one of several live-action Star Wars series in production at Disney+, including The Mandalorian, a Rogue One prequel series, Rangers of the New Republic, an Ahsoka Tano The Mandalorian spinoff series, and another The Mandalorian spinoff series entitled The Book of Boba FettObi-Wan Kenobi will begin filming this April.
