NBC’s ‘Suits: LA’ Adds ‘The Wilds’ And ‘Cosby Show’ Alum Troy Winbush

NBC’s Suits: LA has added another cast member to its ranks with The Wilds’ Troy Winbush, according to Comicbook. Originally reported by Deadline, Winbush joins the three previously announced leads Stephen Amell (Code 8, Arrow), Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead, The Loudest Voice), and Lex Scott Davis (Florida Man, The First Purge).

The upcoming legal drama is a spinoff of the original USA series, Suits, which followed an unorthodox young lawyer’s journey to joining one of New York City’s most elite law firms. Fans followed the power plays and romantic briefs for nine seasons. The series’ resurgence on streaming within the last year prompted NBC to order a pilot for a new show within the universe.

According to Comicbook, Winbush will play a character named Kevin. The former FBI agent and current private detective will be a friend and ex-partner of Amell’s Ted Black, the lead of the show. Winbush is currently attached as a guest star.

According to Comicbook, the show’s official synopsis is as follows:

Suits L.A. centers on Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved. Fifteen years ago, Ted joined forces with his old buddy, Stuart Lane (McDermitt), to build an L.A. law firm, Black Lane Law, that specializes in criminal and entertainment law.

Series creator/writer Aaron Korsh (Everybody Loves Raymond, Pearson) is joined by Gene Klien (Impulse, Covert Affairs), David Bartis (The Wall, Edge of Tomorrow), and Doug Liman (Swingers, Fair Game) as executive producers. The pilot episode will be produced and directed by Victoria Mahoney (Yelling to the Sky, The Skywalker Legacy) under UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
