NBC Picks Up ‘Good Girls’ to Series, Lead Role to be Recast

Days after RiseFor God and Country and A.P. Bio were picked up at NBC, the network has added another show to its lineup. Variety has confirmed that Good Girls, a drama starring Mae Whitman and Retta which was created by Shondaland alum Jenna Bans, has been picked up to series on the network.

Good Girls centers on moms and wives in suburbia who make a desperate decision and end up changing their lives forever. In addition to Whitman and Retta, Matthew Lillard, Manny Montana, Reno Wilson, Lidya Jewerr, Izzy Stannard and Zach Gilford also star on the show. Kathleen Rose Perkins starred in the pilot as well, but her will is currently being recast.

Bans will serve as the writer and executive producer of the series. Dean Parisot directed the pilot and is also being credited as an executive producer of the series, along with Jeannine Renshaw. Bans has previously credited The Family, which aired on ABC last season and was canceled after one low-rated season. She’s currently working for Universal Television, where she’s under a deal. Prior to her current deal, she was under a deal with ABC Studios, where she worked on Grey’s AnatomyScandal and Desperate Housewives.

There’s no word on when the show will premiere or what timeslot the show will have. The timeslot will be revealed on Monday, when NBC has their upfront presentation, along with the other shows on NBC’s fall schedule.
