Nathan Fillion Books ‘Modern Family’ Season 8 Arc

Nathan Fillion is coming back to ABC, but not as novelist Richard Castle.

According to Deadline, Fillion has signed on for an arc in ABC comedy juggernaut Modern Family‘s eighth season. Modern Family co-creator and executive producer Steve Levitan revealed the casing news at a TCA panel that featured ABC comedy showrunners.

Fillion’s Modern Family character will mainly come into contact with the Dunphys. He will play a local weatherman named Rainor Shine (pronounced ‘rain or shine’).

Fillion, along with the eight season long Castle, previously starred on late ’90s ABC comedy series Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place with Suzanne Cryer, Traylor Howard, Richard Ruccolo, and Ryan Reynolds.

Along with this Modern Family arc, Fillion can soon be seen in Yamasong: March of the Hollows, can be heard as Captain Superior in the upcoming super villian animated film Henchmen, and will appear as Simon Williams in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. Fillion also recently had two immensely popular series come to an end, ABC’s Castle and Disney Channel’s Gravity Falls.

Season eight of Modern Family premieres on Wednesday, September 21st.
