Meryl Streep-J.J. Abrams Miniseries ‘The Nix’ Sets John Logan as Showrunner

John Logan is returning to television.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Logan has been brought on as showrunner of Warner Bros. Television’s dramatic miniseries The Nix. The miniseries stars Meryl Streep and is executive produced by J.J. Abrams. There is not yet a network attached for The Nix.

The Nix is based on Nathan Hill’s critically acclaimed 2016 novel that focuses on the relationship between professor/writer Samuel Andersen-Anderson and his mother Faye. He hasn’t seen Faye since she left him as a young child, but she is suddenly thrust back into his life when she is caught throwing rocks at a conservative governor. With Faye in the national spotlight, Sam must confront his complicated relationship with the mother he realizes he barely knows.

Logan first saw success in television with his hit Showtime horror series Penny Dreadful, which drew on classic horror characters like Dorian Gray, Victor Frankenstein and his monster, and Dracula. Logan has also seen plenty of success in film, having been Oscar nominated for HugoThe Aviator, and Gladiator. He also wrote the last two Bond films, and the Johnny Depp hits Rango and Sweeney Todd.

The Nix is executive produced by Abrams, Logan, Streep, Hill, Ben Stephenson, James J. Bagley, and Joan Boorstein.
