Deadline has reported that Matt Rogers (Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens, Stop! That! Train!), best known as Bowen Yang’s (Saturday Night Live, High Matinence) co-host on Las Culturistas, has been cast in the Prime Video series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. He will star opposite Francesca Scorsese (We Are Who We Are, Bone And All). The two are reportedly set for different dynamic than fellow season two additions Mark Eydelshteyn (Sanding Dreams, The Abyss) and Talia Ryder (West Side Story, Never Rarely Sometimes Always). Donald Glover (Community, Atlanta) and Maya Erskine (Blue Eye Samurai, PEN15) are also expected to return, although details are being kept under wraps since production started in April.
The series, co-created by Glover and Francesca Sloane (The First, Fargo), takes the original concept from the 2005 film and puts a new spin on it. Glover will direct several episodes in the upcoming season. Last season, he directed the season finale.
Anna Ouyang Moench will serve as showrunner and executive producer (Severance, Beef) alongside Glover. Executive producers include Glover, Moench, Erskine, Yariv Milchan (The Creator, Ad Astra), Michael Schaefer (The Martian, The Creator), Stephen Glover (Atlanta, Guava Island), Anthony Katagas (Twelve Years A Slave, The Woman In The Window) and Fam Udeorji (Guava Island, Creed II). The first season enjoyed critical acclaim. It was nominated for 16 Emmys, winning two.
According to mxdwn, Moench replaced Sloane after casting issues led to delays in the second season. During the Hiatus, Sloane moved to an overall deal with HBO, barring her from working on the series.
Rogers is not just a podcaster, as he was recently a recurring character on No Good Deed and Overcompensating. He was a main cast member on the Showtime series I Love That For You. Addtionally, Rogers and Yang host the Las Culturistas Culture Awards. The 2026 show is set to air on Bravo and Peacock June 17th.
