Loki season two is airing its final episode this upcoming Thursday. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t have to wait long without seeing their favorite Marvel characters battling across the multiverses. What If…? will be making its return to Disney+ before the year’s end for the run of its second season. According to Screenrant, the trailer for season two has not been released, but with the end of 2023 less than two months away, the second season will be ready for fans to watch by the holiday season.
Via Screenrant, Disney announced in a press release the synopsis for season two. It reveals: “The Watcher continues the journey as our guide through the vast multiverse, introducing brand-new and familiar faces throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The animated anthology series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments…”
Season one of What If…? marked the beginning of something never before done by Marvel; an animated series. The nine episodes within the first season feature beloved Marvel characters, including T’Challa, Thor, Doctor Strange, Loki, and more. The premise of both seasons of Loki surrounds the multiverses and the potential demise of its branches. If Loki manages to save all of the branches, it will correlate to what happens in What If…? If the timelines are saved, then the characters and their lives in What If…? will continue on, with no knowledge about the TVA and Loki’s attempts to save their worlds.
The cast of What If…? features Jeffrey Wright (The Batman) as The Watcher, Fred Tatasciore (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness) as Drax, the late Chadwick Boseman (42) as T’Challa, Josh Keaton (Hercules) as Steve Rogers, Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) as Nick Fury, Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) as Doctor Strange, Jeremy Renner (Wind River) as Hawkeye, and more. Many characters, including Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, and Gamora, are set to have compelling storylines in season two of What If…? Season three has already been given the greenlight before the release of the new season.
