‘RUSH’ Based On Israeli Series ‘The Station’ Is In The Works At Freeform

According to Deadline, a show titled RUSH is currently in the early development stage at Freeform. It is based upon the Israeli show The Station. The Station just recently aired its third season earlier this year.

Deadline reports that the show “revolves around four high-school students who join RUSH — a teenage first-responder program that exists nationally, and internationally. These young heroes work side-by-side with adult firefighters and EMTs, in real life-or-death emergencies. All while juggling their school work, home lives, and romantic entanglements. Our young heroes may find that by saving others, they may be able to save themselves.”

Deadline says that the show is being written by Andrew Lenchewski (Royal Pains) and Kevin O’Hare (Royal Pains). The show will be directed by Alexis Ostrander (Mayfair Witches). It is being executive produced by Trevor Engelson (Snowfall), Hadas Moses (Euphoria), Scooter Braun ( Justin Bieber’s Believe) James Shin, (Dave) and Kyle Vinuya (Neon).

Deadline also revealed that the show will be a teenage-based drama program. It will shed light on the actual system of RUSH, which is a real-life program, while also trying to stay true to the show that it is referencing.

Deadline stated that Lenchewski and Engelson both grew up on Long Island where many of their peers volunteered for RUSH. RUSH is a program that allows students to work hands on in different emergencies with trained professionals in order to get a better understanding of the career that they plan to go into. The pair had both been discussing the prospect of doing a show surrounding RUSH when The Station became very popular as a show in Israel. This gave them the opportunity that they needed to make this show a reality. The Station also has been a driving force behind the volume of enrollment for Israeli RUSH programs.
