Marvel Releases ‘X-Men ’97’ Season One Episodes For Free On YouTube

Anticipation has reached omega-mutant levels for the second season of Disney Plus’s X-Men ’97. After a stellar trailer, Marvel Animation has teased two season-one episodes for free on YouTube. View the two episodes at the bottom of this article.

If you don’t have the streaming platform, or do and somehow failed to watch, X-Men ’97 is a sequel series to the classic 1992 animated series. Premiering in 2024, the series picks up in 1997, with our group of mutant heroes battling continued discrimination, while trying to save their very oppressors from a decimating threat. Most of the original voice cast returned including Cal Dodd (Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off) as Logan/Wolverine, Alison Sealy-Smith (My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale, What If…?) as Ororo Munroe/Storm, Lenore Zann (Revival, Marvel Rivals) as Rogue and George Buza (Ginny & Georgia, A Merry Christmas Wish) as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast.

The first episode, titled “To Me, My X-Men,” found the team learn that their late leader, Professor Charles Xavier, bequeathed his school and dream to best frenemy, Eric Magnus Lehnsherr/Magneto. Weary about his leadership, Magneto must prove he’s turned a new leaf. This trust is tested in episode 2, “Mutant Liberation,” when Magneto faces a human tribunal for his previous terroristic crimes. But the trial is interrupted by a growing human threat that seeks to extinguish the mutant race.

According to mxdwn, additional cast includes Holly Chou (Babes, Blue Eye Samurai), Ray Chase (Devil May Cry, Kill Blue), Jennifer Hale (Pax Romana – Silence over Rome, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy), Matthew Waterson (World of Warcraft: Midnight, The Outer Worlds 2), JP Karliak (Rock, Paper, Scissors, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie), Ross Marquand (Invincible, Tuesday’s Flu), Gui Agustini (The Hidden Billionaire in First Class, The Invenios Expeditions), Terri Douglas (Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, The Punisher: One Last Kill), Arthur Ortiz (Zootopia 2, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), and Chris Britton (Locke & Key, Legends of Tomorrow).

Season one and two were led by former showrunner Beau DeMayo (The Witcher, Moon Knight), who was terminated shortly prior to the series premiere after allegations of misconduct. Season three will be helmed by Matthew Chauncey (Marvel’s What If…, Thor: Love and Thunder).

After scoring a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, the second season will have big shoes to fill when it premieres on Wednesday, July 1 only on Disney Plus.
