Maggie Will Go On! ‘The Walking Dead’ Inks Contract with Lauren Cohan

Fans have been anxiously awaiting whether or not Lauren Cohan will return for next season of The Walking Dead. Thankfully the actress was at CinemaCon promoting her new movie Mile 22 and confirmed her return. “I’m going back,” Cohan told EW, “There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell.”

While she plans on returning, there’s no confirmation on what her storyline will be. Given the apparent dissension between Rick/Michonne and Maggie/Darryl/Jesus in the season 8 finale, things could get pretty interesting. If those are the plans, Andrew Lincoln (Rick) is just a little worried. “It’s crazy. That’s a big turn. It makes for a very interesting set up for this year, certainly. I’m excited. She’s a wonderful actress, LC. She’s so true,” Lincoln told ComicBook.com, “When she hits it, there’s nobody like her. I think it’s wonderful that she’s got this power as a performer and also the stage that Maggie now has in the show and in the community, what she represents, I think it makes for a formidable force.”

For months, there had been much speculation surround Cohan’s return. She had signed on for the pilot, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, but the status of that show is up in the air. During her downtime, she filmed Mile 22 with Mark Wahlberg and Ronda Rousey.

Season 9 of The Walking Dead will not return until this Fall sometime. To get your zombie fix, tune in to Fear the Walking Dead, Sundays on AMC.
