Kirsten Dunst Starring in AMC Comedy Series from ‘The Lobster’ Director Yorgos Lanthimos

Kirsten Dunst is returning to TV after her stellar turn on FX’s Fargo last year, though this time she is working with AMC.

Deadline reports that Dunst has signed on to star in and executive produce On Becoming A God In Central Florida, a 1990s-set hour long dark comedy series being developed at the cabler. Yorgos Lanthimos, known for The Lobster and Dogtooth, will direct.

The series will see Dunst as Krystal Gill, a recently widowed water park employee in Orlando. Krystal lost everything thanks to a pyramid scheme in the form of Founders American Merchandise, a cult-like, multi-billion dollar company that Krystal soon finds herself conning her way to the top off. On Becoming A God In Central Florida was written by Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky.

Along with this upcoming series Lanthimos is working on his follow up to The Lobster, which is set to star Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman. The film, titled The Killing of a Sacred Deer, is loosely based on the Euripides tragedy as it follows a charismatic surgeon who attempts to form a bond with a sinister teenage boy, with horrendous results.

Funke, Lutsky, Dunst and Lanthimos executive produce along with George Clooney and Grant Heslov. The series comes from Clooney and Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures, TriStar Television and AMC Studios.
