Hong Chau, Luis Guzmán, Cherry Jones, and Reed Birney Join Peacock’s ‘Poker Face’

SAG Award Nominee Hong Chau (Watchmen), SAG Award Winner Luis Guzmán (The Resort), three-time Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones (Succession), and Gotham Award nominee Reed Birney (Evil) have all joined Peacock’s mystery drama series Poker Face, per Deadline. Academy Award nominee Rian Johnson (Knives Out) serves as the series’s creator, writer, and director. Four-time Emmy Award winner Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll) will star in the series. As announced by JohnsonPoker Face will be character-driven and in a case-of-the-week format.

Additional previously announced cast members include Emmy Award winner Ellen Barkin (Animal Kingdom), Emmy Award nominee Benjamin Bratt (Modern Family), Academy Award winner Adrien Brody (Succession), Nicholas Cirillo (Teenage Bounty Hunters), Audrey Corsa (All Rise), and Niall Cunningham (Life in Pieces). Angel Desai (For Life) costars alongside Clea DuVall (The Handmaid’s Tale), newcomer Jasmine Aiyana Garvin, two-time Emmy Award winner Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Super Pumped), Simon Helberg (Annette), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), as reported by Deadline.

Emmy Award nominee Judith Light (Julia) costars alongside Danielle MacDonald (Unbelievable), Shane Paul McGhie (Greenleaf), Tim Blake Nelson (Just Mercy), Emmy Award nominee Tim Meadows (Schooled), Charles Melton (American Horror Story), and Emmy Award winner S. Epatha Merkerson (Chicago Med). Academy Award nominee Nick Nolte (Graves) and Emmy Award nominee Ron Perlman (The Capture) costar alongside Dascha Polanco (In The Heights), Academy Award nominee Chloe Sevigny (We Are Who We Are), and Leslie Silva (Women of the Movement).

Johnson and Lyonne will executive produce the series alongside Ram Bergman (Self/Less) and Nena Rodrigue (Lost & Found). Nora Zuckerman (Prodigal Son) and Lilla Zuckerman (Suits) will also executive produce and serve as co-showrunners. Four-time Emmy Award winner Maya Rudolph (Forever) and Emmy Award nominee Danielle Renfrew Behrens (Loot) will co-executive produce.

Chau’s recent credits include Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, Prime Video’s Homecoming, Semi Chellas’s American Woman, and Andrew Ahn’s Driveways. She will star in Mark Mylod’s upcoming film, The Menu, Kelly Reichardt’s Showing Up, and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. Chau will also star as Diane Farr in the upcoming Netflix series, The Night Agent.

Guzmán recently played Jorge in the second season of Starz’s Hightown and was featured in Jimmy Giannopoulos’s The Birthday Cake, Christian and Justin Long’s Lady of the Manor, Tarek Tohme’s Hold On, and SHOWTIME’s Shameless. He is set to play Gomez Addams in Tim Burton’s upcoming Netflix series, Wednesday, and will feature in projects such as Gareth Evans’s Havoc and Aristotle Torres’s Story Ave.

Jones starred in the Apple TV+ series, Five Days at the Memorial, which is currently airing, and has had roles in Apple TV+’s The Sky Is Everywhere, Michael Showalter’s The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and Apple TV+’s Defending Jacob. She earned Emmy Awards for her roles in Succession, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, and FOX’s 24.

Birney’s recent credits include Bess Wohl’s Baby RubySuccession, Paramount+’s Evil, Apple TV+’s Home Before Dark, and Fran Kranz’s Mass. He will star in Oday Rasheed’s If You See Something opposite Adam Bakri (Slam) and Lucy Owen (Bull).

Peacock has yet to confirm a release date for Poker Face.
