‘Ginny & Georgia’ At The Top of Netflix Top Ten List

According to Deadline, hit comedy drama Ginny & Georgia has reached the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV list. The news comes after season two dropped on the streaming service on January 5th.

Within the first couple days of its launch, the series claimed 180.47 million hours viewed. It trails behind big Netflix shows like Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’s whopping 196.2 million hours and Bridgerton’s 193.02 million hours.

The new season superseded Emily in Paris, which totaled 117.6M hours viewed in its first week, The Watcher, and the fifth installment of Cobra Kai. Season one of the dramedy also reached the No. 5 spot with 44.3 million hours viewed, likely in anticipation for the sequel.

The heist miniseries Kaleidoscope, which debuted on January 1, has fallen to the No. 2 spot. It received 112.32M hours viewed in its first week. Wednesday has fallen to the No. 3 spot with 81.3 million hours after the teen show dominated the charts for six weeks. Emily in Paris season three is at the No. 4 spot with 47.7M hours viewed.

Per Netflix, the series follows “Free-spirited Georgia and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, [who] move north in search of a fresh start but find that the road to new beginnings can be bumpy.” Brianne Howey (The Passage, The Exorcist) stars as Georgia Miller. Ginny is played by Antonia Gentry (Raising Dion, Candy Bar), who was nominated for an MTV Award for her role in the show, and Austin by Diesel La Torraca (La Brea, Lambs of God).

Season two brings “Ginny trying to live with her mom’s deadly secret while acting normal, which is proving rather difficult, and tensions rise between the two,” via Deadline.

The other cast members of Ginny & Georgia include Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek, Twitches), Felix Mallard (All the Bright Places, Neighbours), and Katie Douglas (Every Day, Level 16). Sara Waisglass, Raymond Ablack, and Chelsea Clark, who all worked on Degrassi, also star. The show was created by Sarah Lampert (Haze), who executive produces alongside showrunner Debra J. Fisher (Alias, Criminal Minds).

Ginny & Georgia has not yet been renewed for a third season. Season two is streaming now exclusively on Netflix.
