FX Renews ‘Atlanta’ and ‘Better Things’

FX has been quick to embrace its brand new comedy series.

Both Donald Glover’s Atlanta and Pamela Adlon’s Better Things have been picked up for 10-episode second seasons, Deadline reports. Both comedies have received rave critical reviews and have performed well for the cabler. According to FX, Better Things is its most female-driven comedy to date, and Atlanta has been gaining viewers episode-by-episode, dominating in the 18-49 demographic.

“It’s really gratifying to launch two new comedies that have received overwhelming critical acclaim right out of the gate and that are emblematic of FX’s award-winning brand,” said FX Networks and FX Productions Presidents of Original Programming Nick Grad and Eric Schrier. “It is clear to us that Atlanta and Better Things have struck a nerve with viewers, which is a credit to Donald Glover’s vision for Atlanta and Pamela Adlon’s vision for Better Things. They, along with their spectacular casts, writers and directors, have created exceptional shows that we are incredibly proud to produce.”

Atlanta, created by and starring Donald Glover, tells the story of cousins Earn Marks (Glover) and ‘Paper Boi’ (Brian Tyree Henry) as they attempt to break into the Atlanta rap scene. The series also stars Keith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz. Glover executive produces with Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle. FX Productions produces the series.

Starring Pamela Adlon, Better Things follows LA single mother and working actor Sam Fox, showing her daily life as she tries to raise her three daughters while maintaining a career. The series also stars Mikey Madison, Hannah Alligood, Olivia Edward, Celia Imrie, and Mather Zickel. Adlon executive produces the series with Louis C.K., M. Blair Breard, Dave Becky, and 3 Arts Entertainment. C.K.’s Pig Newton and FX Productions produce the series.
