Fox to Air UK Formatted Show ‘Celebrity Watch Party’

Fox announced on Thursday that they are airing an unscripted show, Celebrity Watch Party beginning May 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The Studio Lambert (Undercover Boss, Inside Job, Naked Attraction) produced series, which will have a one-hour air time, will feature celebrities and their families in their homes reacting to the latest television shows, movies and current events of the week.

Some celebrities that are said to be featuring in the premiere episode are Raven Symoné (That’s So Raven, Cheetah Girls, The Cosby Show,) Rob Lowe, (Parks and RecreationSt. Elmo’s Fire,) Meghan Trainor, Master P and Romeo, Jojo Siwa, Steve Wozniak, Robert and Kym Herjavec (Shark Tank,) and Curtis Stone (Top Chef Jr., Trolls, Surfing the Menu.)

The platform of the show isn’t entirely new- over 35 countries have produced their shows based on this U.K. formatted, “Gogglebox” from Studio Lambert. This format has been a hit in the U.K., where it airs on Channel 4. COVID-19 proof,  Celebrity Watch Party will seamlessly integrate into the current American culture surrounding the coronavirus.

CEO of Studio Lambert, Stephen Lambert is simply “delighted so many famous people love the idea of this show and want to be part of it…it’s a show which asserts the indispensable role of TV in the fabric of people’s lives,” Variety mentioned.

The president of Alternative Entertainment and Specials for Fox Entertainment reinforced that Celebrity Watch Party “is a fantastically innovative, clever and culturally relevant format that brings families together to celebrate all the best films, entertainment shows and news on television on any given week, ” according to Variety.

Among the producers of the show are Becca Walker (The Voice UK, I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, and Hell’s Kitchen,) Jack Burgess, Mike Cotton (Undercover Boss, Young Apprentice, The Fairy Jobmother, and Naked Attraction,)Tania Alexander, and Tim Harcourt (The Circle, Race Across the World, Naked Attraction, Club Rep Wars, Top of the Shop with Tom Kerridge.)

The Fox network has greenlit the series to air 10 episodes.
