First Images of Woody Allen’s Amazon Series ‘Crisis in Six Scenes’ Show Miley Cyrus Rocking the 60’s Look

Woody Allen is one of the most recognized names in Hollywood. Since his directorial debut in 1966 with the comedy film What’s Up, Tiger Lily, to his most recent theatrical release Café Society, Woody Allen has directed a staggering 52 projects, written 74, and acted in 48. For the first time in his storied career, Allen will dabble in the world of the TV series and debut his six episode series Crisis in Six Scenes on Amazon.

Crisis in Six Scenes is a comedy that will take place in the U.S. during the 1960s, marking a tense and tumultuous time in American history. The series centers around the lives of a suburban New York couple, played by Woody Allen and Elaine May. John Magaro (Orange Is the New Black) and Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards) play a young engaged conservative couple who come into conflict with a young hippie, played by Miley Cyrus, who is heavily involved in the 60’s movement and driven by radical communist beliefs.

Allen created, wrote, and directed all six episodes of the series, with the help of producer Helen Robin and executive producer Erika Aronson. On the topic of developing a TV series, Allen said“I thought, ‘I’ll sandwich this in between two films and knock it off. What’s the big deal? It’s television.’ But over the years, television has made enormous strides, and wonderful things are being done on television. And I found as soon as I started to get into the project, I couldn’t bring myself to slough it off because this is not television of 50 years ago, where every silly thing was acceptable.” Allen also spoke on his interest in Cyrus since her days as Hannah Montana. “I said, ‘Who is that girl? She’s got such a good delivery. You know, she snaps those lines off so well. The show is a silly little show, but she’s very good at what she does.’”

IndieWire has revealed the first images of the series, giving a glimpse of Cyrus in her hippy garb, and an aging, weathered Allen.  The series is set to premiere on September 30, exclusively on Amazon. Check at the first peak of Crisis in Six Scenes below.
